What month should Christmas food and decorations hit stores?

Christmas comes but once a year, but it seems to arrive in our stores earlier and earlier, with mince pies spotted as early as August in major supermarkets.
But when should the Christmas food and decorations hit shelves? We still have Halloween to get through and it’s another 98 sleeps until Christmas morning.
We decided to ask Nine.com.au readers when they think food and decorations should hit stores and an overwhelming number of respondents said November, at 56 per cent.

Twenty-five per cent of respondents earmarked October as the ideal time, and just 15 per cent prefer for retailers to wait until December.
A handful of respondents thought Christmas decorations should be on shelves as early as August and September.

And it seems they got their wish, with Bunnings putting out their Christmas displays.
However, they are mostly focusing on outdoor displays that do take some time to design, plan and organise.

Indoor decorations don’t need to be in stores as early. Most Australian homes have decorations they use each year for their Christmas trees and awnings.
Although each year retails show their creativity with increasingly unique novelty decorations such as Big W’s $8 Mirabella sausage dog battery operated wire lights.
Who doesn’t need this on their Christmas tree or as part of their Christmas displays?

While the festive season can prove busy and a little stressful at times, it’s hard not to feel a little excitement building when we see festive displays during our weekly shops.
